A rubber valve stem is a small port usually located on the rim section of a wheel,
which allows the tire to be pressurized and maintain air pressure. Valve
stems are typically spring-loaded devices that permit air to enter the tire
when the external pressure is greater than the internal pressure. This allows
the tire to be filled with air when necessary, yet maintains the internal air
pressure when not being filled. |

It is important that valve stems be replaced anytime a tire is replaced. Likewise,
when tires are being balanced or repaired, valve stems need to be inspected to ensure
they are in proper condition. At Discount Tire/America's Tire, we routinely inspect
the valve stems on your tires and install new valve stems when servicing a tire. |
